'The Consumer Act of the Philippines' (Republic Act No. 7394) targets the protection of consumers against hazards to health and safety. Bureau of Philippine Standards' (BPS) therefore has – as one out of two schemes - implemented the 'Standard (PS) Quality and/or Safety Certification Mark Licensing Scheme'. Besides Electrical and Electronic Products, e.g. Construction Material and Automotive related Products are in the scope of the regulation.

PS-Procedure in brief:

- Factory and Product Inspection (In-plant Testing)

- Independent Product Testing

- Safety Certification / Permission to use PS Safety Mark

The PS Safety mark should be placed on the product (preferable) or its packaging, facilitating verification by the  Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
