'The Consumer Act of the Philippines' (Republic Act No. 7394) targets the protection of consumers against hazards to health and safety. Bureau of Philippine Standards' (BPS) therefore has – as one out of two schemes - implemented the 'Standard (PS) Quality and/or Safety Certification Mark Licensing Scheme'. Besides Electrical and Electronic Products, e.g. Construction Material and Automotive related Products are in the scope of the regulation.
PS-Procedure in brief:
- Factory and Product Inspection (In-plant Testing)
- Independent Product Testing
- Safety Certification / Permission to use PS Safety Mark
The PS Safety mark should be placed on the product (preferable) or its packaging, facilitating verification by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
TUV Rheinland is a recognized Inspection Body and Testing Laboratory by the Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS).
