Mexico Addendum letter or IT Equipment (NOM-019-SCFI-1998) or Dictum for HSE (High Specialized Equipment)
Demonstrate compliance with product safety regulations through our assessments and get acceptance of your NRTL approval for Mexico
The regulation ‘NOM-019-SCFI-1998: Data Processing Equipment – Safety requirements‘ is equivalent to US- and Canadian standards for the same (IT) equipment. Mexican government therefore grants formal recognition of the standard IEC 60950-1 (Ed. 2) and results of related conformity assessment procedures, as published by the official gazette of August 17th, 2010. For selected certification bodies like TÜV Rheinland, NTRL licenses for the US / Canadian market are accepted instead of local NOM certificates. An Addendum Letter links the information of the NRTL license holder and licensed product models versus the Mexican importer data. Relevant information is recorded in the SIAA (Mexican authorities’ data base for authentication of certificates information). Highly Specialized Equipment (not indicated in clause 1.1 and intended for business users or institutions) is excluded from the regulation NOM-019-SCFI-1998. For such equipment, no testing is required and a Dictum with a validity of one year is issued by NYCE instead of a NOM certificate. Draft regulation PROY-NOM-019-SE-2020 would replace NOM-019-SCFI-1998 upon formal implementation.
