Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Technical Regulation on Safety of Toys
Technical Regulation TR CU 008/2011 on safety of toys, sets requirements for toys concerning the life and health of children and care-takers, as well as the protection of the consumer against misleading information. Toys are generally defined as products designed or intended for play for children under 14. Appendix I in the Technical Regulation lists 24 products that are not considered as toys. Article 4 & 5 of the Technical Regulation determines the essential safety requirements, as well as hygienic safety requirements that toys shall comply with. This is to avoid health and safety risks posed to children and their care-takers. Besides, there are also labelling, instructions for use and warning requirements. More elaboration is listed in in Appendix III. Article 6 describes the Certificate of Conformity procedure necessary for toys. Upon successful conformity assessment, toys shall be marked with the EAC Mark on the product and/or the packaging and/or label before placing on the market.
