Kuwait - Cosmetics Registration
Registration of specific cosmetic products in Kuwait
The Ministry of Health’s Drug and Food Control Administration provides cosmetics registration based on Resolution No. 97/200. To qualify for registration, products must be in compliance with mandatory GSO standards established by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), of which Kuwait is a member. The following labelling requirements also apply: • Products shall be marked with suitable, clearly worded and easily comprehensible warnings on the risks they may present in the official language of the member state (Arabic). • The product or packaging must provide the identity and details of the manufacturer and the product reference. Alternatively, batch information may be presented – if possible. • The country of origin must be displayed. Decision No. 59/2009 of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) prohibits the use of 1,4-Dioxane as an ingredient in make-up as well as cosmetic and shampoo products.
