Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing and Certification

All electric and electronic devices emit and receive electromagnetic waves, which can interfere with other electrical or electronic equipment

Electromagnetic interference and sensitivity can be annoying in many cases. To prevent this, electric and electronic devices have to adhere to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) guidelines and must bear the CE marking. Anybody wanting to bring such products onto the European market has to comply with the EMC directive 2014/30/EU.

Our service without compromises

We have a modern office and a complex laboratory area of more than 5000 m² in Budapest.

Thanks to our modern and unique equipment in many cases, we are able to provide a high level of service to our local and international clients worldwide.

In the new Location, we maintain laboratories for Mechanical Products, Electrical Safety, Luminaires & Environmental Simulation as well as a special High Current & Short Circuit Lab for components and a Medical Device Laboratory. In addition, we tried to emphasis on our new EMC chamber for testing electromagnetic radiation that allows the testing of large products, such as electronic assemblies consisting of several cabinets and control/operating equipment.

With 150 years of professional experience, we offer uncompromising support to our clients from the very first moment of collaboration to the successful completion of a project.

Ongoing and effective client communication is as important to us as professional engineering expertise. That is why we put a big effort on finding common voice with our partners from the very beginning.

Our laboratories and experts around the globe reinforced our reputation as a reliable EMC testing and certification provider. We offer expertise in a wide range of industries and extensive knowledge of applicable regulations in countries and regions around the world.

We carry out EMC tests according to the current international standards and issue certification of compliance with international market regulations. Testing is carried out by experts in our state-of-the-art laboratories or, in some cases on-site. During product development, we can also provide laboratory rental to achieve compliance in case you concentrate on a single measurement.

Our testmark is a guarantee of quality

Undergoing testing and obtaining certification by a respected third party service provider not only ensures market access, but sends a signal to consumers within those markets. You gain a competitive edge with our test mark, which signals quality and gives customers a reliable point of reference when making decisions in an increasingly competitive environment.

What is EMC testing?

In an EMC laboratory Two types of phenomena are considered: electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS). EMI is related to the electromagnetic radiation emitted by a product, whereas EMS describes the behavior of a product when subjected to electromagnetic disturbances coming from the environment.

EMC testing comprises measurements of the emission generated on in- and outgoing cables, the emission generated as electric fields surrounding the device, immunity against several disturbance phenomena on in- and outgoing cables, immunity against electric fields generated by other electronic devices and radio transmitters, and immunity against electrostatic discharges generated by human intervention.

When should we test the product?

Testing a product from time to time during development helps to identify potential EMC problems at an early stage. This allows for better control of the development schedule (and cost) of new products.

Testing in the development phase is to spot potential problems early and reign in costs.

Testing at the final prototype stage prior to production is to complete with a test report for market regulators and stakeholders

Random sample testing is also effective during mass production as part of a quality assurance program

Testing a product at the final prototype stage demonstrates that it is fully compliant with relevant EMC regulations before starting mass production.

What is our evaluation?

Our experts will evaluate the electromagnetic compatibility of your product in only three steps:

  • Testing of the product according to the 2014/30/EU EMC directive: The equipment must be designed so that the electromagnetic frequencies do not interfere with the function of other products and vice versa.
  • Issue of the EMC test report
  • EMC certification

Our chamber meets the following criteria

The new laboratory will allow us to further expand our services thanks to the state-of-the-art equipment.

In addition to increasing the types of tests carried out, the new chamber will allow us to develop new market sectors in line with the latest technology and significantly reduce service time.

Our state of the art 10 m EMC chamber with a 3m turntable, a large quite zone and dual antenna measurement fulfills all standard and regulatory requirements, also allows the testing of large products, such as electronic assemblies consisting of several cabinets and control/operating equipment. It is equipped with various interfaces and high current supplies to test not only mechanical, electrical and medical products, but also high power commercial products like EV Charging stations for our customers in Hungary and in collaboration with our colleagues in the other locations for entire Europe and beyond.
