Our laboratory which was founded in Berlin in 1937 has been authorized to conduct tests on all types of lighting devices. The TÜV Rheinland Lichttechnik GmbH is an independent third party laboratory. TÜV Rheinland Lichttechnik GmbH is designated as well as accredited by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) , by the Société Nationale de Certification et d'Homologation (SNCH) , by the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) , by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) and by the Taiwanese Vehicle Safety Certification Center (VSCC).

Our services for light equipment and installation

Within the framework of automotive light equipment measurements you will receive by us technical reports in order to obtain type approval for your product. We provide support, assessment and test services during the development and prototype production stage of your products. And - we have the know-how and expertise for optimization processes of your product.

Our services for automotive lighting comprises:

  • Test in accordance with international UNECE regulations and/or EC Directives
  • Tests compliant to national German Road Traffic Licensing Regulation (StVZO)
  • Test compliant to the Taiwan Traffic Rules (VSTD)
  • Test compliant to US legislation (FMVSS108/SAE)
  • Prepare of individual- and basic test reports for imported vehicles and cars

Further light measurements:

Our laboratory is authorized to conduct light measurement in accordance with a large number of standards as for example DIN EN, CIE or IEC. Our modern laboratory equipment and future-based technology enables us to evaluate and inspect light technology thoroughly and substantially.

This may include:

  • Determination of phosphorescence and luminescence
  • Determination of CIL Coefficient of Luminous Intensity – reflective value on all types of retro-reflecting devices.
  • Test of the stray-light portion
  • Luminous density (=brightness factor) determination
  • Spectral measurements in the wavelength range from 250 nm to 780 nm.
  • Measurement of chromaticity coordinates
  • Spectral filter transmission factors (degrees)
  • Calibration of light technolgy company laboratories.
  • Determination of light parameters of electronic compact fluorescent discharge lamps
  • Flashlight mesurements
  • Measurement of spectral radiant intensity, of the maximum total luminous flux, of the light intensity and the luminous intensity distribution.
