TÜV Rheinland Infomation about Amendment of the technically avoidable amounts of heavy metals

In its latest statement, the Federal Institute for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (Bundesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit) published the limit values for the technically avoidable amounts of heavy metals, which are listed in the Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 on Cosmetic Products in Annex II as ”List of substances prohibited in cosmetic products”.* These values were determined under consideration of good manufacturing practice (GMP) and feasibility of raw materials choice. The recommendations dated 1985 and 1990 respectively were no longer representing the state-of-the-art. Based on several years of monitoring and the results of more than 1700 samples the following new limit values for technically avoidable heavy metals were laid down.
