amfori BEPI encompasses a broad scope of 8 Environmental Performance Areas (EPAs). Using a methodology grounded in aspects and impact assessment, it pinpoints the environmental hot spots pertinent to each business partner, based on onsite production processes. The 8 Environmental Performance Areas include:

• Environmental Management Systems
• Energy & Climate
• Emissions to Air
• Water & Effluents
• Waste
• Biodiversity
• Chemicals
• Nuisances

The amfori BEPI Environmental Monitoring is a key activity designed to assess a business partner site's proficiency in managing environmental issues. It checks for legal compliance, evaluates the effectiveness of management systems, and identifies elements of continuous improvement onsite. Want to delve deeper into the details? Starting from 2 July 2025, amfori business partners can directly request monitorings for their own sites under the following programs: amfori BEPI, amfori BSCI, and amfori QMI. This new functionality on the amfori Sustainability Platform empowers business partners to proactively ensure continuous compliance.

Key Requirements for Self-Requested Monitorings:

• The business partner must be linked to at least one amfori member.
• No linked member may have already initiated the monitoring via the Responsible Sourcing Platform (RSP).
• Linked members must not cancel the request within 5 calendar days after submission.
• The monitoring must be paid for directly by the business partner—third-party payments are not permitted.

This includes guidance throughout the monitoring process as well as clarification on how the self-request functionality works within the amfori Sustainability Platform. It is a good supplementary tool to enable members’ holistic and integrated approach in pursuing responsible sourcing and sustainable supply chains.
