Education Requirements

As a minimum a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent degree in 1 or more areas as listed below:

• biology/microbiology;
• chemistry or biochemistry;
• computer and software technology;
• electrical, electronic, mechanical or bioengineering
• human physiology;
• medicine;
• pharmacy;
• physics or biophysics
• material sciences

At least 4 years full-time work with relevant practical experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industry, science, laboratories, notified bodies, examination centers or facilities that test or manufacture medical devices; thereof two years in the field of quality management systems.

A master’s degree can substitute 1 year of working experience and a PhD in a relevant medical area (see Education) can substitute maximum 3 years of working experience. E.g. if somebody worked contractually in a university laboratory during his PhD. The total substitution together cannot exceed 3 years.

For product assessor qualification two years in:

• the areas design, manufacturing, quality control, or testing of the corresponding group of medical devices,
• areas related to the clinical evaluation of medical devices.
