USA - Wireless Emergency Alerts and the Emergency Alert System
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has announced that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has approved a non-substantive change to the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) rules, requiring participating commercial mobile service providers to implement multilingual alert templates for 18 emergency events in English, the 13 most commonly spoken languages in the U.S., and American Sign Language (ASL).
