USA - Significant New Use Rules on Certain Chemical Substances (24-1.5e)
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued Significant New Use Rules (SNURs) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for specific chemical substances previously covered under premanufactured notices (PMNs) and a Microbial Commercial Activity Notice (MCAN).
The SNURs require individuals or entities to notify the EPA at least 90 days before manufacturing (including importing) or processing these chemicals for any activity classified as a significant new use.
This notification allows the EPA to evaluate the conditions of the proposed use, make a determination, and implement necessary actions before the activity begins.
The rule becomes effective on September 29, 2025.
