USA - OEHHA Intends to List Three Chemicals to Proposition 65
The California Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) intends to list anthracene (CAS RN 120-12-7), 2‑bromopropane (CAS RN 45-26-3), and dimethyl hydrogen phosphite (CAS RN 868-85-9) as known to the state to cause cancer under the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
Anthracene is a PAH, just like other PAHs, widely used to make dyes, plastic and pesticides. It is also used as a wood preservative in wood and lumber.
2-bromopropane was first listed in 2005 due to its reproductive toxic properties. It is used as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, dyes, and other organic.
Dimethyl hydrogen phosphite is used as a flame retardant on nylon 6 fibers, as a chemical intermediate in the production of pesticides and in lubricant additives and adhesives.
