USA - New York bans PFAS in apparel

​New York prohibits sale of apparel containing perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) as intentionally added chemicals, effective December 31, 2023.

The Governor of the State signed the bill A7063 / S6291​ into law on December 30, 2022. This would amend article 37 of the Environmental Conservation Law (ECL).

​Apparel, e.g. undergarments, shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, overalls, bodysuits, vests, dancewear, suits, saris, scarves, tops, leggings, leisurewear, formal wear, onesies, bibs, and diapers, etc but excluding professional uniforms or outerwear intended for extreme conditions.​
