USA - Maine Proposed PFAS Reporting Rule
Maine State is proposing a reporting rule which requires manufacturers of products with intentionally added perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) to disclose the presence of those substances in those products to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
The proposed date of adoption is the beginning of 2023.
Products are defined in the bill as any product, including its components, sold or distributed for personal, residential, commercial or industrial use, including materials used to manufacture other products. It is banned to sell in the State the product with intentionally added PFAS without the disclosure of information.
DEP is also authorized to ask the manufacturer of the final product to provide a certificate of compliance if the department has evidence showing the violation of the law.
