USA - 1,3-Butadiene; Risk Evaluation under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA); Notice of Availability

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released the final risk evaluation for 1,3-butadiene (CASRN 106-99-0) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

- The risk evaluation assesses whether 1,3-butadiene poses an unreasonable risk to human health or the environment under its conditions of use. This includes risks to potentially exposed or vulnerable populations, without considering costs or other non-risk factors.

- Using the best available science and the weight of scientific evidence, the EPA determined that 1,3-butadiene presents an unreasonable risk to human health due to specific conditions of use.

- Following this determination, the EPA is required under TSCA to initiate risk management actions to mitigate the identified risks.
