UK - Ecodesign Regulations 2026 for Household Tumble Dryers
The UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero signed the new Statutory Instruments 2026 No. 318, "The Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products and Energy Information (Household Tumble Dryers) Regulations 2026".
Key dates are as follows:
1. April 10, 2026 (Ecodesign requirements officially launched + transition period begins)
2. September 19, 2026 (Energy labeling obligations begin, transitional labels used)
3. January 19, 2027 (Full implementation of new mandatory labels + end of all transition periods)
4. May 8, 2027 (Final tightening of shutdown mode)
5. Before December 9, 2032 (Regulatory review)
Practical recommendations:
- Now (after April 2026): Immediately initiate Schedule 2 testing, spare parts supply chain setup, website information upload, and internal compliance assessment.
- By September 2026: Prepare transitional label templates, product information sheets, and advertising templates.
- By January 2027: Complete the correctability index (R-value) calculation and design new labels, and update technical documentation.
- All measurements/calculations must be performed according to Schedule 4 and the specified standards.
- Violations may result in market surveillance enforcement (Regulations 18-19).
