UK - Draft Toys (Safety) (Permitted Uses for Cobalt) (England and Wales and Scotland) Regulations 2026

​On June 29, 2026 the Department for Business and Trade, Office for Product Safety and Standard​ notified WTO of a Draft Regulation - The Toys (Safety) (Permitted Uses for Cobalt) (England and Wales and Scotland) Regulations 2026.

This measure will amend the Toys (Safety) Regulation 2011 as applicable in GB ("the Toys Regulations").

It will amend the Toy Regulations, to introduce permitted limits of cobalt following a derogation request. Cobalt is currently classified as Carcinogenic, Mutagenic or Reprotoxic (CMR) under GB Classification, Labeling and Packaging (CLP) Regulations.

Proposed date of adoption: September 8, 2026

Proposed date of entry into force: March 8, 2027
