UK (DCMS) - Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill
In November 2021, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport issued the UK's Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Bill, a new regulatory scheme, to ensure that consumer connectable products are more secure against cyber attacks.
Part 1 of this bill mandates that minimum cyber security requirements must be adhered to in relation to consumer connectable products sold in the UK. This bill provides a robust regulatory framework that can adapt and remain effective in the face of rapid technological advancement, the evolving techniques employed by malicious actors, and the broader international regulatory landscape.
Proposed date of adoption: Anticipated to receive royal assent in 2022
Proposed date of entry into force: Anticipated in 2023
Final date for comments: Comments can be submitted via the UK's Enquiry Point and will be considered up until 60 days from November 11, 2021.
