Thailand - Draft Ministerial Regulation on Stainless Steel Food Contact Products

​The draft Ministerial Regulation mandates stainless steel utensils for food to conform to the Thai Industrial Standard TIS  3206-2567(2024) Stainless Steel Utensils for Food: Safety Requirement.

This draft Ministerial Regulation applies to the following stainless-steel utensils that come into contact with food and beverages that can be eaten, drunk, sucked or gotten into the body either by mouth or by other means, no matter in what form:

1) Pots: Various-shaped containe​​rs for heating liquids

2) Pans: Various-shaped containers, typically deep-bottomed with flared or shallow/flat bases, with or without rims, used for cooking by stir-frying, frying, grilling, roasting, simmering, boiling, stewing, etc.
3) Plates: A flat-shaped container
4) Bowls: A container with a curved or inward-bent rim
5) Food Trays: Various-shaped low, flat containers with rims, such as compartment trays, warming trays, food trays, dessert trays, etc.
6) Food Containers: Various-shaped containers with lids, stackable or non-stackable
7)  Beverage Containers: Various-shaped containers for holding liquids or other items, such as glasses, tumblers, bottles, flasks, etc.
8) Spoons: Utensils for scooping food
9) Forks: Utensils for piercing food
10) Chopsticks: A pair of utensils for picking up food
11) Spatulas: Utensils for flipping or scooping fried or stir-fried food in a pan
12) Ladles: Utensils for scooping food, similar in shape to a spoon but larger
13) Dippers: Container with a handle for scooping liquids​
