Taiwan - Ban on the Use of PVC in Single-use Food Contact Materials
The Taiwan Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) bans polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in certain food contact materials, effective July 1, 2023.
In order to reduce the impact of PVC to the environment and the public health, the EPA, following South Korea and New Zealand, took an action on April 29 to ban the use of PVC in the following products:
- flat packaging materials
- designated recyclable and non-plate single-use food contact materials, including those used for food, animal food, diary products, seasoning, vinegar, oil, beverages, drinking water, alcohols, etc.
