South Korea - Technical Standards for Charging and Data Transmission Methods of Mobile and Smart Devices, Including Broadcasting and Telecommunication Equipment (USB-C Type Connectors)
The Ministry of Science and ICT's establishes technical standards for the charging and data transmission methods of mobile and smart devices to prevent resource waste and enhance consumer convenience.
The regulation applies to devices such as Mobile phones, tablets, digital cameras, headphones, headsets, portable video game consoles, portable speakers, e-book readers, keyboards, mice, portable navigation devices, earphones, and laptops, requiring them to adopt USB-C type connectors for charging and data transfer.
The notice will take effect one year after its announcement and will be reviewed every three years for validity and potential improvements.
