South Korea - Draft Revision of Safety Verification Criteria for Portable Laser Devices

Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) proposed draft revision of safety verification criteria for Portable Laser Devices.

- Expanding the scope of the related technical regulation from laser pointers and toys to portable laser household goods (wavelength range: 400-700 nm), and regulating the laser beam output to level 2 or less.
  * Except for industrial or business, performance, military use and products or household goods managed by other domestic laws
 - Regarding warning labels and precautions, complying with the national or international standard (KS C IEC 60825-1)

Proposed date of adoption : August 2021 or later
Proposed date of entry into force : February 2022 or later
Final date for comments : May 30, 2021
