South Korea - Amendment to the Operating Guidelines for Electrical and Consumer Product Safety
The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) issued Notice No. 2026‑56, announcing an amendment to the Operating Guidelines for Electrical and Consumer Product Safety under the Electrical Appliances and Consumer Products Safety Control Act.
The revision adjusts the scope of safety‑regulated electrical products to reflect technological advances and changing market conditions by reclassifying several products—including vacuum cleaners, washing machines, microwave ovens, electric dryers, and bathroom electrical appliances—from Safety certification Target Products to Safety confirmation Target Products.
