South Korea - Amendment to the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Standards
The National Radio Research Agency (RRA) has announced an amendment to the "Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Standards" to address safety concerns related to platform screen door (PSD) sensors malfunctioning due to broadband radio waves from 5G mobile communications.
This amendment aims to enhance public safety by ensuring the broadband radiated immunity of PSD laser sensors (or LiDAR sensors).
- Addition of Broadband Radiated RF Electromagnetic Field Immunity Standards:
The "Electromagnetic Compatibility Standards for Multimedia Equipment" have been updated to include immunity standards for "broadband radiated RF electromagnetic fields" in the enclosure port immunity criteria ([1], Article 2, Item A).
- Implementation Date and Related Amendments:
The amendment specifies the effective date of the revised standards and includes provisions for the amendment of other related notices (Supplementary Provisions, Articles 1 and 2).
