Slovenia - Proposed Amendment to Toy Safety Regulation

The proposed regulation transposes EU Directives related to toys of following:

Directive  (EU) 2019/1922 of aluminium;

Directive (EU) 2019/1929 of formaldehyde;

Directive (EU) 2020/2088 as regards the labeling of allergenic fragrances in toys;

Directive (EU) 2020/2089 as regards the prohibition of allergenic fragrances in toys.

The proposed  regulation prohibits the use of allergenic fragrances atranol, chloroatranol and methyl heptin carbonate, and adds new allergenic fragrances to owls, which must be indicated on the toy, on the label, on the packaging or in the accompanying instructions. At the same time, the migration limit for aluminum from toys or toy components is changed and a new substance, formaldehyde, is added to the chemicals used in toys intended for use by children under 36 months or in other toys intended for use by children, put in the mouth.

You can submit a comment until April 1, 2021, on the Slovenian government website.
