Singapore - Update on High-Risk Controlled Goods Test Standards
On July 12, 2021, the Consumer Product Safety Office (CPSO) published a circular to inform about the changes in the safety standards for certain high-risk Controlled Goods, regulated under the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (CPSR).
Four categories of Controlled Goods are involved:
1) Gas cooking appliances
2) Mains socket-outlets
3) Water heaters
4) Refrigerators
For the purpose of testing and certification for registration under the CPSR, the required safety standards for the above categories of Controlled Goods will be updated as set out with effect from July 13, 2022. These listed goods when tested to editions of their applicable Safety Standards older than what is required, will not be accepted for new registrations or renewal of existing registrations.
