Saudi Arabia - Proposed New MEPS for Commercial Refrigerators and Freezers with a Direct Sales Function

​The proposed addendum to the Technical Regulation for Energy Efficiency (05-03-16-156) is limited to Annex (1). The addendum consists of the addition of a new standard titled: "Commercial Refrigerators and Freezers with a Direct Sales Function — Energy Performance, Testing and Labeling Requirements."

Proposed date of entry into force of the new standard: 18 months after the date of 
adoption.
This draft standard specifies the Minimum Energy Performance Standards  (MEPS), energy efficiency classification, testing, calculation, labeling, marking and registration requirement for electric mains-operated refrigerating appliances with a direct sales function, including appliances intended for the refrigeration of items other than foodstuffs.
It applies to appliances operating on AC single-phase circuits of 230 Vor three-phase circuits of 380V or 400V, at a frequency of 60 Hz, in accordance with SASO GSO 1899.
The draft standard covers commercial refrigerating appliances with a direct sales function, including supermarket cabinets, commercial beverage coolers, ice-cream freezers, gelato scooping cabinets and refrigerated vending  machines, subject to  the exclusions specified in Clause 1 of the draft standard.
