Peru - Peruvian Metrological Standard Draft PNMP 021:2026 “Non-invasive, non-automated sphygmomanometers.” Part 1: Metrological and technical requirements. Part 2: Test procedures. Part 3: Test report format.
The National Institute for Quality (INACAL) has announced Draft Peruvian Metrological Standard PNMP 021:2026, "Non-invasive, Non-automated Sphygmomanometers," consisting of: Part 1: Metrological and Technical Requirements, Part 2: Test Procedures, and Part 3: Test Report Format.
The draft standard applies to non-invasive, non-automated sphygmomanometers, which are widely used in clinics, health centres, hospitals, community health campaigns, and primary healthcare services to monitor blood pressure.
PNMP 021-1:2026 establishes stricter metrological and technical requirements, including:
(i) a maximum permissible error of ±0.4 kPa (±3 mmHg); (ii) performance requirements under varying temperature conditions;
(iii) tests for air leakage, hysteresis, pressure reduction rate, and stability; and (iv) requirements for mechanical safety and marking durability.
PNMP 021-2:2026 sets out harmonized test procedures to support international traceability, including:
1. temperature testing;
2. testing under extreme storage conditions;
3. air leakage testing;
3. air leakage testing;
4. hysteresis testing;
5, durability testing; and
6. shock, vibration, and transport testing.
PNMP 021-3:2026 establishes a standardized test report format for type approval and verification, supporting technical equivalence with the requirements of other members of the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML).
