Nicaragua - Update on Telecommunications Equipment Approval and Compliance
Administrative Agreement 004-2025, issued by the Instituto Nicaragüense de Telecomunicaciones y Correos (TELCOR), was published on Nicaragua Offical Gazette, on November 18, 2025.
All
telecommunications equipment intended for manufacturing, import, marketing, or
use in Nicaragua must undergo a homologation process and obtain a Certificate
of Homologation from TELCOR.
Equipment Subject to Homologation:
- All telecommunications equipment that connects directly or indirectly to public telecommunications networks.
- Equipment that uses the radio spectrum or emits radio waves.
- Equipment intended for manufacturing, import, marketing, or use in Nicaragua.
Equipment
must comply with technical, regulatory, health, and safety standards set by
TELCOR or international standards recognized by TELCOR.
All
homologated telecommunications equipment must display a special label
indicating compliance with national conformity regulations. The label must
include the Certificate of Homologation number and be legible.
Some examples of exempted product list:
- Equipment not part of or connected to public telecommunications networks (unless it emits radio waves).
- Radio communication equipment operating on Citizens Band and Amateur Radio service frequencies.
- Equipment temporarily imported for demonstration at trade shows or events.
- Equipment listed as exempt on TELCOR's official website
The regulation became effective upon its publication in La Gaceta, Official Gazette on November 18, 2025.
