Mexico - Amendment to “Technical Provision IFT-011-2022: Technical Specifications of Mobile Terminal Equipment that may use the Radio Spectrum or be Connected to Telecommunications Networks. Part 3. Cellular Broadcasting Service for Notification of Risk

​The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has proposed amendments to Technical Provision IFT-011-2022, Technical Specifications of Mobile Terminal Equipment that may use the radio spectrum or be connected to telecommunications networks. Part 3. Cellular Broadcasting Service for notification of Risk or Emergency situations.

​The proposal updates the technical requirements for the reception, processing, and display of emergency alerts by establishing separate channels for Maximum Earthquake Alerts, Maximum Alerts for other hazards, and Preventive Civil Protection Messages, in Spanish, indigenous national languages, and/or English.

The draft also introduces differentiated visual display formats, audible alert signals, and vibration patterns for each type of alert message, together with corresponding test methods to verify compliance with the new specifications.
