MERCOSUR Technical Regulation RES Nº 20/21 amendment on RES Nº 56/92 General Provisions for Plastic Containers and Equipment in Contact with Food

​MERCOSUR Resolution No. 20/21 was approved on October 13, 2021, amending Resolution No. 56/92 on general provisions for plastic containers and equipment in contact with food.

The amendments include:

- replacing No. 5 of the Annex in Resolution 56/92 with requirements on the total migration limits (LMT) on different types of plastic containers and equipment intended to come into contact with food 

- replacing No. 7 of the Annex in Resolution 56/92 with the requirements on the colorants to be used on colored plastic containers and equipment intended to come into contact with food

Member States shall incorporate this Resolution before April 11, 2022.
