Japan - DENAN - Revision of Interpretation of DENAN Scope and DENAN Technical Requirements

Interpretation of DENAN Scope and DENAN Technical Requirements (Appendix 8 and Appendix 10) were revised on December 28, 2021.

<Overview of the Revision>

1. Due to the increased awareness of disinfection and sterilization owing to the corona epidemic, electric sterilizers with a structure that irradiates toward outside of the device are rapidly becoming popular. Therefore, in the interpretation of the DENAN scope, it has been clarified that electric sterilizers with a structure that irradiates toward outside of the device are also subject to the regulation.

2. In Appendix 8 of Interpretation of Technical Requirements, structural requirements not to cause injury to the human body and requirements of warning labels were added for electric sterilizer with a structure that irradiates toward outside of the device.

3. In order to prevent communication failure caused by radio noise emitted from LED lamps, the noise requirements for LED lamps in Appendix 10 of Interpretation of Technical Requirement have been replaced by J55015 (corresponding international standard: CISPR15 (2013)), which has been adopted in Appendix 12.
