Japan - Cabinet Decision on Partial Amendment of the Enforcement Order of the Act on the Evaluation of Chemical Substances and Regulation of Their Manufacture, etc.

This designation follows the decision made at the 10th Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention in June 2022, identifying PFHxS-related substances as persistent organic pollutants requiring elimination. 

The revised order includes restrictions on the manufacture, import, and use of PFHxS-related substances, bans the import of certain treated products (e.g., water- or oil-repellent fabrics), and establishes handling standards for specific products like fire extinguishers containing these substances, along with transitional measures.
