Israel - Ministry of Economy and Industry - SI 4210 Parts 1 to 9 - Mandatory Standards for Bicycles also Includes Mountain Bikes (MTB)

On April 22, 2020, the Israel Ministry of Economy and Industry has published the revised version of the Israeli Mandatory Standard, the "SI 4210", related to bycicles shall be declared mandatory also relating to mountain bicycles. Till now, the mandatory requirements applied only to city and trekking bicycles, and to bicycles designed for young adults. In this declaration, the Commissioner of Standardization recommends declaring that also the requirements for mountain bicycles shall be compulsory.

All types of bicycles covered by the mandatory requirements of these standards shall be classified under Israel's Import Group no. 3, i.e., these types of bicycles will be considered as a commodity with a low level of danger. Therefore, only a Supplier's Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) is required for releasing these goods from customs.

Part 1 - Cycles: Safety requirements for bicycles - Terms and definitions;

Part 2 - Cycles: Safety requirements for bicycles - Requirements for city and trekking, young adult, mountain and racing bicycles

Part 3 - Cycles: Safety requirements for bicycles - Common test methods

Part 4 - Cycles: Safety requirements for bicycles - Braking test methods

Part 5 - Cycles: Safety requirements for bicycles - Steering test methods

Part 6 - Cycles: Safety requirements for bicycles - Frame and fork test methods

Part 7 - Cycles: Safety requirements for bicycles - Wheels and rims test methods

Part 8 - Cycles: Safety requirements for bicycles - Pedal and drive system test methods

Part 9 - Cycles: Safety requirements for bicycles - Saddles and seat-post test methods.


The Mandatory Standards, SI 4210 parts 1 through 9 adopt respectively the International Standards ISO 4210 parts 1-9 - First edition: 2014-07-01 with a few changes and national deviations that appear in each standard's Hebrew section.
