Indonesia - Public Consultation on the 700MHz and 2.6GHz Frequency Spectrum Launched by KOMDIGI

The Indonesia Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has announced plans to allocate the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz radio frequency bands in 2026 to enhance internet access and mobile service quality across Indonesia. This initiative aims to accelerate digital transformation and address signal limitations in underserved areas. The allocation supports the goals of the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and the Ministry's Strategic Plan (Renstra).

The 700 MHz band, known as the "digital dividend," offers wide signal coverage and strong penetration through physical obstacles, making it ideal for expanding mobile broadband access nationwide. Meanwhile, the 2.6 GHz band is optimized for high-speed data transmission, supporting 5G technology and accommodating dense data traffic in urban areas.
The selection process will ensure equitable 4G access in rural areas and encourage providers to strengthen 5G services. The initiative is guided by Ministerial Decrees No. 175 and 176 of 2026, emphasizing transparency, legal certainty, and accountability.
Komdigi invites stakeholders and the public to support this strategic effort to optimize radio frequency spectrum use, fostering Indonesia's digital economy and improving connectivity for all citizens.
