India - Guidelines for Implementation of Amendment No.1 to IS 16333 (Part 3): 2022

​India Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) recently issued guideline for the implementation of amendment No.1 to IS 16333 (Part 3): 2022 - 

Mobile Phone Handsets: Part 3 Indian Language Support for Mobile Phone Handsets- Specific Requirements.

The significant changes in the amendment are summarized below for general guidance:

Each mobile phone handset shall have an instruction manual either in a printed form or in digital mode (online user guide and/or QR code) to furnish the following information in addition to the information given in 5.1 of IS 16333 (Part 1). The provision to access the information in digital mode shall be given on the packaging.

The standard without Amendment No. 1 will remain in force until September 19, 2025.

All registered manufacturers and applicants are requested to take note of the above and implement Amendment No. 1 to IS 16333 (Part 3): 2022.​
