Hong Kong - Publication on Allowance of WiFi 6E Devices
On April 29, 2022, the Hong Kong OFCA (Office of The Communication Authority) published rules to allow use of the Wi-Fi devices in a new frequency band of 5.925 – 6.425 GHz.
Under the Device Class License, certification of Wi-Fi 6E access points against the relevant technical specifications and affixing the label prescribed by the CA (“CA label”) on certified Wi-Fi 6E access points offered for sale in Hong Kong are compulsory requirements.
Access points include fixed Internet routers, portable Internet routers (commonly known as “pocket Wi-Fi” or “Wi-Fi eggs”), bridges, repeaters, extenders, etc. which control the operations, including the use of frequency channels, of other Wi-Fi devices connected to them.
