Europe | Regulation (EU) 2025/718 - Amending POP Regulation Regarding the Limit of PFOS
EU Commission has published Regulation (EU) 2025/718 amending POP Regulation regarding the limit of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and its derivatives
PFOS was the first per- and polyfluoroalkyl compound regulated in the Union, and the limit values were set a long time ago.
More recently, a similar group of substances, PFOA, C9-C14 PFCA, PFHxS and PFHxA with very similar uses to PFOS, was included in Annex XVII of REACH and Annex I of POP with a much lower limit value.
That indicates that lower levels of contamination with those chemicals are technically feasible today.
This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.
The limit value change of the Annex shall apply from December 3, 2025.
