Europe - Denmark - PFAS Ban in Clothing and Footwear Published
Denmark has officially published Executive Order BEK number 464 of May 2, 2025 on the prohibition of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
Scope
1. Clothing,
2. Footwear, and
3. Waterproofing agents for clothing and footwear.
Timeline
- Starting from July 1, 2026
- ale of pre-imported stock until January 1, 2027
Limit
Total fluorine content of 50 mg F/kg
Exemption
- Reuse and recycling of clothing or footwear
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) intended to protect the user against risks specified in Regulation (EU) 2016/425, Annex I, risk category III (a) or (c),
- PPE where the PFAS content serves a safety function for the consumer,
- Impregnating agents intended for re-impregnating PPE mentioned above.
- Medical devices,
- Transit goods.
