EU - Test and GS Mark for Products Made of Recycled Plastic or Paper

​In the context of the desired circular economy, the use of recycled materials is increasingly being pushed by politicians and consumers.

However, the use of such materials, especially from waste paper or plastics, results in special requirements for quality assurance (QA), since the purity of these materials is lower than that of virgin materials.

Even today, the manufacturer and certification holder is required to ensure consistent quality of its production through its QA system. Each batch must correspond to the previously tested and certified products.

This is checked as part of initial and follow up factory inspections and is also part of an ISO 9001 or similar certification.

The prescribed limits regarding potentially harmful and legally regulated substances are identical.
