This stakeholder consultation is to be held for eight weeks from December 5, 2019, and until January 30, 2020, and is related to the Substance Assessment and the Substance Prioritization parts of the study.
In relation to the Substance Assessment, seven substances are to be assessed in the course of the study with a view to the review and amendment of the RoHS Annex II list of restricted substances. The current consultation aims at collecting comments on three of the seven substances that have been assessed. The substances currently under consultation include:
1. Tetrabromobisphenol-A (TBBP-A)
2. Medium Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (MCCPs), and
3. Diantimony trioxide.
In relation to the Substance Prioritization, the pre-prioritization of the inventory has been carried out. All substances that as a result of this stage are now in the highest priority are now being consulted on again, in order to collect more detailed information as to their applications, volumes of use and possible contribution to emissions during the use phase or during the waste phase.
Following the review and summary of the additional information for these substances, where possible conclusions shall be drawn as to the internal ranking within this group of substances of highest priority. This should support future decisions as to which substances are most urgent for assessment under the context of the RoHS Directive.
