EU - Public Consultation on Potential Candidates for Substitution

Cyanamide is considered as an endocrine disruptor which meets one of the conditions of Article 10(1) of the Biocidal Products Regulation. Therefore, before submitting its opinion on the approval or renewal of the active substance to the Commission, ECHA will launch a public consultation for the active substance in question.

The intended uses of the biocidal product are:

1) to control fly larvae (Musca domestica) in liquid manure in animal housings and

2) the disinfection against Brachyspira hyodysenteriae of the liquid manure stored underneath the slatted floor in pig stables in order to protect fattening pigs against the pig disease dysenteria.

The public consultation gathers relevant information on the availability of substitutes or alternatives to the active substance in question (i.e. Cyanamide). Information on the availability of possible alternatives is highly important to support the comparative assessment that is required for the authorisation of biocidal products containing the active substance (considered as a candidate for substitution).

Information must be provided on or before 25 August 2019.
