EU - Proposal for Cybersecurity Act 2

​The European Commission recently notified WTO regarding the proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA),  the European cybersecurity certification framework, and ICT  supply chain security and repealing Regulation (EU) 2019/881 ("The Cybersecurity Act 2").

This notification concerns Title III of the proposed regulation with the objective to increase cybersecurity capabilities and resilience and prevent fragmentation across the EU internal market. In particular, the Title provides for a comprehensive set of measures that enhance the existing European Cybersecurity Certification Framework, already established by Regulation (EU) 2019/881 with the objective to:​

  • increase the level of cybersecurity within the European Union;
  • enable a harmonized approach to European cybersecurity  certification schemes; and
  • leverage certification to facilitate compliance with applicable  European Union legislation
