EU - New 6GHz Band Wireless LAN Frequencies Harmonized

The European Comission has newly harmonized the 6GHz radio frequency band for use by wireless access systems (WAS) including Radio LANs (Wireless LAN, such as Wi-Fi). COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING DECISION (EU) 2021/1067 published on June 30 defines two categories:

- Low power indoor (LPI) WAS/RLANs devices, only for indoor use, with maximal 23dBm EIRP

- Very Low Power (VLP) WAS/RLAN devices, indoor and outdoor use, with maximal 1dBm EIRP and 10dBm/MHz density.

By December 1, 2021, Member States shall designate the 5 945-6 425 MHz frequency band and make it available.

Following the Unites States, these new frequencies become now available in Europe expanding the heaviliy used 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands for wireless LAN.
