EU - Directive (EU) 2022/2380 Amending the RED (2014/53/EU) to Introduce Common Chargers
The EU published on December 7, 2022 a new directive (EU) 2022/2380 amending the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) (2014/53/EU) to introduce common chargers. For various mobile devices the use of USB-C chargers is mandated. Also unbundling of chargers from the main product is regulated. The directive contains a detailed list of equipment. For these, the transition period ends 2 years after publication, except for laptops where the transition period is 4 years. The UK has no plan to introduce a similar regulation.
