The Commission Regulation (EU) 2025/2052, adopted on October 13, 2025, establishes ecodesign requirements for external power supplies (EPS), wireless chargers, wireless charging pads, battery chargers for portable batteries, and USB Type-C cables to improve energy efficiency, interoperability, and sustainability.
The regulation aims to reduce energy consumption, promote circular economy objectives, and ensure compatibility through measures like the introduction of a "Common Charger" logo and stricter efficiency standards.
It will enter into force on December 14, 2025, with most provisions applying from December 14, 2028, while transitional provisions for certain products apply earlier.
