Ecuador - PRTE INEN 159 on Metal Valves Used in Water Distribution Systems - Repealed

​The notified resolution lays down the requirements to be met by metal valves used in water distribution systems, with a view to preventing risks to human life and safety, and practices likely to mislead or confuse consumers.

It applies to the following products, which are assembled and manufactured in, imported into, and marketed in Ecuador:

- Iron gate valves with metal seals, for use in water distribution systems

- Elastomer-seated iron gate valves, for use in water distribution systems

- Resilient-seated iron butterfly valves, for use in water distribution systems

- Iron spherical valves, for use in water distribution systems

- Iron swing check (non-return) valves, for use in water distribution systems

- Spherical valves, made from copper alloys and stainless steel, used in drinking water supply systems in buildings

- Foot check (non-return) valves, made from copper alloys, used in drinking water supply systems in buildings

- Water meter connection valves, made from bronze alloys (check (non-return), gate, cap-type shut-off, spherical) .
