Ecuador - Emergency Modification to the Emerging Ecuadorian Technical Regulation RTE 072 (2R) "Energy Efficiency for Ductless Air Conditioners"

​In compliance with the provisions and guidelines established by the World Trade Organization (WTO) through the Technical Barriers to Trade Agreement (TBT Agreement), as well as Decision 827 of the Andean Community (CAN), and in response to Ecuador's energy emergency due to high energy consumption in the sector that compromises the country's legitimate objectives, the following communication is issued:

- The validity of the Ecuadorian Emergency Technical Regulation RTE INEN 072 (2R): ""Energy Efficiency for Ductless Air Conditioners"", established by Resolution No. MPCEIP-SC-2024-0579-R on October 29, 2024, and published in the Official Registry Supplement No. 685 on November 18, 2024, has been extended for an additional six (6) months, effective from October 29, 2025.

- This measure was formally notified to the WTO and CAN on October 31, 2024, under the reference G/TBT/N/ECU/548.

- A Technical Report issued by the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MAE) supports this measure.
