Ecuador - Draft Technical Regulation RTE INEN 010 "Tableware and Articles of Glass, Ceramic and Glass-Ceramic Intended to Come Into Contact with Food"
This Ecuadorian technical regulation applies to the following products, whether domestic or imported, that are marketed in Ecuador:
- Articles of glass, ceramic and glass-ceramic intended to be used for the preparation, cooking, serving and storage of food and beverages.
- Tableware of glass, ceramic and glass-ceramic intended to be used for the preparation, cooking, serving and storage of food and beverages.
- Ceramic kitchen utensils intended for cooking food.
This Ecuadorian technical regulation does not apply to:
- Glass, ceramic and glass-ceramic products classified as decorations or ornaments, hygiene or toiletry items, and handicrafts.
- Enameled vitreous articles and tableware.
- Enameled porcelain articles and tableware.
- Ceramic tableware classified as toys, which must comply with the current RTE INEN 089 ""Toy Safety"".
- Glass, ceramic, glass-ceramic articles, glass-coated cutlery and all articles used in food production industries or those in which food and beverages are commercially sold.
