Colombia - Resolution No 2271/2019: Amendment of Technical Regulation on the Labelling of Zinc-Carbon and Alkaline Batteries, Resolution 721/2018

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development published the Resolution No 2271/2019 with amendments to the Technical Regulation on the Labelling of Zinc-Carbon and Alkaline Batteries, Resolution 721/2018.

The main updates are:

• Clarify the batteries scope under the regulation;

• To allow the Supplier Declaration according to technical standard NTC-ISO-IEC 17050, Parts 1 and 2, for a period of 5 months after the 1st Certification Body is accredited by the National Accreditation Body of Colombia (ONAC);

• Clarify the validity dates of certificates issued before the Resolution 721/2018 enforcement;

• List the acceptable test methods for mercury, cadmium and lead levels.
